Viva Las Vegas! Hot Trends in Kitchen & Bath Design from KBIS 2019
KBDC Design Associate, Kate Yurgelun, and Project Manager, Paulina Drozdzowski, recently took a trip to Las Vegas to attend the 2019 Kitchen & Bath Industry Trade Show (KBIS) to learn about the hottest trends and technology in kitchen and bath design. Educational seminars, product demonstrations and networking events comprised the show with over 600 exhibitors and thousands of visitors in attendance.
The show was filled with countless surprises including purple bath tubs, hand painted refrigerators, and colorful appliances. Pops of color and streamlined, sleek looks were most prominent among the displays. Smart accessories like Alexa-enabled bathroom mirrors, electronic shower controls, and intelligent faucets were showcased. The convention center was lit up with new lighting innovations such as integrated lighting in countertops, toe kicks, and lighting inside cabinet drawers.
Kitchen trends included farmhouse sinks and large single bowl sinks, matte black and brushed gold finishes, a resurgence of white appliances, and contrasting cabinetry in bright colors like blues and greens. Many of the kitchen displays also featured wood elements and intricate geometric tile backsplashes, both are design trends predicted to take off in 2019.
The bathroom displays and bathroom product demonstrations at KBIS were fascinating. Among the most impressive was a zero-gravity flotation bathtub, the Kohler Konnect system, which enables voice control throughout your bathroom, and several smart toilets with heated seats, personalized heights, and built-in bidet features.
