The kitchen tour is a wonderful opportunity to not only showcase our work and capabilities, but is also supporting a great cause. All ticket sale proceeds from the event will benefit The Be Thoughtful Movement, a non-profit organization that focuses on creating and supporting businesses that employ individuals with physical, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities (I/DD). By supporting inclusive businesses, The Be Thoughtful Movement aims to bring people with and without disabilities together in local communities and workplaces.
The Be Thoughtful Movement was founded by Susan Johnson and her husband Stephen Tarca as a way to raise funds to create local employment opportunities for those with I/DD like her son Harold who lives with Cerebral Palsy. The Be Thoughtful Movement helped kick start The Thoughtful Travelers, LLC, a travel agency co-founded by Harold who has a passion for travel. The Thoughtful Travelers is focused on helping others with disabilities travel and embrace life more abundantly.
The Be Thoughtful Movement is currently working to raise the necessary funding to help the startup of BeanZ & Co. an inclusive coffee cafe to be located in Avon, CT. BeanZ & Co. will be run by Kim Morrison, owner and founder of The New England Pasta Company, and Noelle Alix of Simsbury, both mothers of daughters with Down Syndrome.
